    About Our Presenters:

    Rhonda Brunett, Parent Consultant
    Rhonda Brunett, one of the founders of The Autism Connection, and her husband, Rick,
    are the proud parents of 13 year-old son, Jordan. Jordan was diagnosed with autism at age
    three. Due to much encouragement combined with the apparent lack of layman’s
    materials on autism, Rhonda, just a novice-was fueled to write her first book, From
    Autism to All-Star, which was self-published in 2004. Little did they know, that what
    began as a loving way to preserve family memories, would result in documentation of
    Jordan’s life as an autistic child. Rhonda believes that it is her purpose in life to serve as
    a passionate advocate for autism. She has developed, Speak Today, a local access
    television show, and is a host for Autism One Radio to all in an effort to help educate,
    encourage, and support others.

    Angelina Strum, M.Ed., Special Education Teacher
    Angelina received her Bachelors Degree in Special Education from Illinois State
    University in 2000 and her first Masters Degree in Special Education from National-
    Louis University in June 2006. She is currently pursuing a second Masters Degree in
    School Leadership/Administration from Concordia University.  In her 7 years of
    experience she has worked with students ranging from early childhood to middle school
    age. She has attended numerous trainings on ASD and has vast experience in the
    following tools: Visual communication strategies, PECS, TEACCH, Heartland Model,
    Discrete Trial, ABA Therapy, and functional behavior analysis. She also has participated
    in sensory integration trainings and uses a sensory-based approach with students in her
    classroom.

    Sheila Bott, COTA/L, Certified Occupational Therapy Provider
    Sheila Bott has 18 years experience as a licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapy
    Provider specializing in sensory integration for children with special needs and is
    employed at Clare Woods Academy in Bartlett, IL. Clare Woods Academy is a special
    day school for students on the autism spectrum, behavior disorders, learning disabilities,
    and other health impairments. She is knowledgeable in the following techniques and
    treatment methodologies: sensory integration theory and practice, Floortime, Therapeutic
    Yoga, Listening Therapy, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) and Brain
    Gym. She has been Early Intervention Certified since 2003. Sheila is one of the
    founders of The Autism Connection which is comprised of five women dedicated to
    educating parents, university level college students, and special education teachers
    throughout Illinois. The Autism Connection holds one-day workshops providing
    information related to sensory modulation and processing dysfunction as it relates to
    individuals on the Autism Spectrum. Sheila is currently working on developing an
    Autism Advisory Team for DuPage, Cook and Kane Counties.

    Catherine Whitcher, M.Ed, Author, Speaker, Consultant
    Catherine Whitcher, M.Ed, founder of Precision Education, Inc.holds multiple special education teaching
    certificates, has been featured on AutismOne radio show, published in The Autism Perspective and is Co-
    Author of Asperger's Success.  She is a member of the National Association of Special Education Teachers
    and Co-founder of the non-profit Disability Community Solutions.  
       
    Proud sister of a successful man with Down Syndrome, Ms. Whitcher’s dynamic teaching within the
    classroom led her to her life-long passion of bringing education teams together for student achievement. For
    over 10 years, Precision Education, a special education consulting firm has been focused on maximizing special
